Dancing with Santa

Grandmaw Martin has a stuffed Santa that sings and Ladell loves him! As long as he is not real!

Mom's Group Christmas Party

We had our mom's group Christmas party last night. Ladell had a great time playing with the other kids. When comes to Santa, she loves to wave and talk to him at a distance but when I put her in his lap for a picture, she started to cry! Maybe she thinks I am going to leave her with him! The Lady would not even walk up to him to get her present he brought for her. Oh well maybe next year!

Snow Day!

We had snow! The snow flurries started last night and it was beautiful. We woke to a white yard! Ladell was unsure about the snow at first but that quickly passed! Here are a few pictures from the morning.

First Game Of The Season...USM!

USM had their first game of the season last night. We took the Lady, all dressed up and ready to cheer! She really enjoyed herself. I think watching the cheerleaders was her favorite part. We also got to run up and down the halls, quite a few times! It was a great kick-off to the season, we cannot wait to go to more games!

First Trip To The Zoo

This is from our first trip to the zoo. We are standing in front of the prairie dogs. The Lady really liked watching them, I think if we would have let her she would have stayed with them for hours!

Ladell was very excited when she saw Grandmaw was there to join in on the fun! Thanks for making her big day even more fun.

The Zoo and New Friends

Ladell and I met up with the Hattiesburg mom's group at the zoo yesterday. She really enjoyed running around with the other kids, she was even able to keep up with them while they ran circles around us (the moms). Most the kids are 2 and 3 but there is one little who was born April 18th and his mom said his due was the 24th, they were almost the exact same age! He really like the Lady's bow! I think Ladell will have some good friends in this group.

This was Ladell's second trip to the zoo, we went with Dada and Grandmaw on Wednesday. I think the Lady liked to monkey the best! We got to take the train ride on Friday and that was Mama's favorite part, what a nice breeze!

Splash Pad

Yesterday was a beautiful day, so we decided to pull out the splash pad. The Lady just loves to be outside. As you can see we have a new addition to our family, Aux. He is a PapiPoo and Aux and Ladell have hit it off. They follow each other around and are great company for the other. Aux was too afraid of the water to fully join in on this activity, though.

Three Days Of Fun With Cousin Ethan!

Ladell and I tok a trip to Greenville Monday-Wednesday. MayMay and Papa were keeping Ethan, so we just had go see him. When we pulled up Ethan was waiting for us in the drive-way and the first thing he said when he saw Ladell was "Baby Dell has blonde hair!" The two of them had a blast. There was a not a dull moment. The Lady loved to follow him around the house. And they just had to check out each others toys. Ladell played with trucks and Ethan played with her purse. On Wednesday we drove Ethan to Madison to stay with his Didi and Pop. On the ride there Ethan kept saying "look at Baby Dell she is so cute!" After we dropped Ethan off The Lady really did miss him. She cried for about 20 minutes! We can't wait until Baby Collin is born so she can see E-man again.

I am not sure why I can't post anymore pictures right now. Will post more later.

Neither another sweat-stained afternoon of searing heat nor an unfamiliar sight of late in Hattiesburg - threatening skies - could dampen the spirit of the inaugural Stars and Stripes celebration in downtown Hattiesburg.

"We actually had people come a little early," said Jennifer Rigney, a member of Group One of the Leadership Pinebelt's 2009 class that was the impetus behind the event. "They're anxious."

About 100 folks were on hand at Town Square Park to watch the posting of the American flag by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hattiesburg chapter before joining in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The celebration at the park was expected to continue until about 9 p.m. Saturday, capped by a laser light show in lieu of fireworks. Most of the area's shows had been canceled because of the extended arid weather conditions in the Pine Belt and the fear that sparks could create fires.

But even if the sparkle was dimmed, plenty of noise remained.

Ironically, the largest sustained applause during City Councilman Dave Ware's address came after a sustained rumble of thunder echoed across the field.

"Unfortunately, we haven't had rain in a month here, and now it looks like it's about to rain on this party," Ware said. "But you know what? I say bring it on."

Noise was plentiful, too, during the kids' parade that kicked off the festivities shortly after 5 p.m. Led by the blaring sirens of Hattiesburg Police Department patrol cars, about 50 people marched the few blocks down Main Street, from Pine Street down to the park.

Children were bedecked in their Fourth of July best, pulled in wagons, decorated carts or strollers. Even a small dog got in on the act, sporting a white body wrap adorned with the American flag.

At the front of the procession were members of the Pine Burr Area Council Boy Scout Troop 461, just behind a large banner that read, "Stars and Stripes, presented by brownstone's and 2009 Leadership Pinebelt Class Group One."

"This is like the first time we've ever been in a parade that I remember," said troop member Willie Hartfield of Hattiesburg.

Also at the front was 6-year-old Alexis Schmachtenberger, who will be a first-grader at Oak Grove Primary School this summer. After winning the title "Miss Teeny America" during competition in Hartford, Conn., Alexis waved to folks along Saturday's parade route, sporting a red-white-and-blue dress, tiara and sash.

"She was excited to do it," said her mother, Tiffany Kersten, "and she said she wanted to do it to represent all the kids for the Fourth of July."

Ware said he had high hopes for the fledgling event.

"I think it's one more step in the development of the downtown area," Ware said. "Group One set this up in a way to make this succeed. To me, the best part about this is that they involved the community in this.

"The city has been able to assist, but the fundraising was all done through private donations through the efforts of this group, and that's what can make this succeed."

The Lady has had a big week. Tuesday her Mimi came to visit while mommy did some work at our new house. Wednesday we took a day trip to Gulfport, MS to see Ladell's cousins Grayson and Reese from South Haven, MS. Today her Maymay and Papa stopped in for lunch on their way to the MS gulf Coast. And tomorrow we will be taking the lady to Destin to spend the Father's Day with Big Papa and Dessie. And to top it all off she is teething this week! She has been a trooper this all the action, though.

New Chair

This is Ladell's "big girl" chair. It is for her new room, when we get it finished. The lady looks so comfy sitting. It is now her new favorite spot in the loft.
